Moments of Stay-Dialogue of Colors

Moments of StayDialogue of Colors

Jeong Kyung-sik(Art Critic)

Here is a painter standing on the green ground.

Plants on the loess-colored earth, plants rooted in their own places as if relying on each other, resemble the sun. Yellow that emits visible light, and light green that grows in the cracks of plants, the flow of those colors becomes the source of her paintings. The brush strokes harmonize gracefully in the sunlight-filled canvas, and the gaze stays on the fantasy of the beautiful reverberation.

Looking back, the colors and touches are as natural as the paintings that were originally there. The paintings looking at me like a cup of tea that someone carefully prepared… … . If you raise your head and take a step closer, you will see a handful of dirt, and you will see an unknown field grass. If you take a step closer, you can see the wind passing by, and you can see her dream. And there is the beauty of the ‘staying moment’ she cherishes in our lives. Through dialogue of colors, there is drama that fills the screen with warmth of yellow, light green, and orange without hesitation.

Then, the gaze stops at the green light flowing with tranquility and vitality. Just as each of us lives to the best of our abilities in a given place, each plant takes root, blooms, and lives in love. Just as seeds fly and take root anywhere they touch, she lives there with her own color, as if a seed of hope grows.

The touch of green that fills the exhibition hall will comfort the viewers who have walked on the desolate asphalt little by little. We will summon beautiful moments of life through yellow of liveliness and joy, red of nostalgia and memories, purple of hope and anticipation, and blue of hope and challenge.

After struggling up the stairs and encountering the ‘Moments of Stay’, an infinitely large world will unfold like the clouds you have seen a long time ago. You will also see memories with your beloved mother whose memories will be erased in white. Her colors, which have undergone strong and acidic changes six times, are deeply seated in the inner world in various forms, creating her own colors.

In a series of works titled ‘Dialogue of Colors’, with the motif of five colors, Lee Kyung-ah gently puts her pattern on the landscape that is familiar with our perspective and transforms it so that it does not stand out. It vividly expresses the rhythm found in nature with various strokes. Her paintings mainly touch the water and the sky. At first glance, the work looks ordinary, but if you look closely, there is her own way of speaking with a comma. A landscape filled with introspection is a metaphor for the self, a balance in which nature and human gaze intersect, and speaks of the identity of the landscape at the boundary. Because of this, the landscape becomes a time of recovery with affectionate compassion. Through Lee Kyung-ah’s ‘staying moment’, we can relax and heal in life. Her color, her paradox and innocence are still being nurtured in the beaker of desire. We look forward to her growing pains as she is about to reach the end and a new beginning.
